The Art of drawing

I was born with the ability to draw the human figure. Kindergarten was my first challenge, my art teacher didn't approve of my drawings for I didn't draw stick people as she had instructed. I didn't understand why my drawings of my family with bellies, arms and legs were incorrect. So, I was sent to the Principal's office until class was over.

As I moved through the school system I often would be recruited to draw the thing no one else in class could draw. One time it was a face from a magazine that everyone thought was impossible. So, I took on the challenge.

The ability to draw portraits turned into commissioned work that lead me to drawing sports images. as well.

I enjoyed drawing the scars and wear and tear on the leather pads. It was a challenge to make the net  light enough to see but not dominate the image, Unfortunately the net is not visible at this size.  This image was matted and framed before delivery.


The following was created with colored pencils. A combination of faces, hands and lace to create the image. It was my first attempt at drawing on a large scale (24x36) with colored pencils.
